My Experience Selling My Car in UAE

A Reddit user posted this on reddit and its actual story to what happend.

I came here to write this post for ppl wanting to sell a car here in UAE.

TL;DR

Sold it to Al Futtaim Automall.

In Details:

I owned a Honda HRV and had to sell it within a two-month timeframe. and here’s my experience with different solutions:

First option (Facebook Market):

It was completely redundant, ppl throwing lowball offers and negotiating over Messanger trying to reduce the price by thousands without even checking the car, and none of them came to check it after I showed seriousness and firmness on the price with small discounts cuz it does not make sense to give huge discounts via chatting.

Dubbizle Pro:

I’d say, it is ok, apart from the fact, that I had to commute to a specific place for each customer even though the customer might live near my place. I could not sell it there, even though the car is in almost-perfect condition as I had it from a Honda Dealership with periodic service history, but ppl acting weirdly, asking to get big discounts even though they liked the car, and some of them, turned down the whole thing just cuz of a couple of thousands AED.

Another annoying thing, even though I insisted on the importance of attending to the Dubbizle checkpoint area on time but still ppl coming after half an hour claiming a lot of traffic, which does not make sense to me as they can plan it ahead.

Lastly, when they start doing the test driver thing, they drive like they are in a competition or something, doing whatever they can to harm the car, claiming they’re testing the car in a good manner, I mean, I’d understand that a little, but it drove me crazy how they’ve done that.

SellAnyCar:

Surprisingly, they did not offer as bad a price as ppl saying on the internet, surely not the best, and I was about to consider it, but I wanted to pay more time.

Al Futtaim Automall:

I booked online and went to a branch in Sharjah, they did an inspection, offered me the price the next day, went there, and sold it, and they handled all the paperwork, after four days, the money showed in my bank account.

The price (something near to what SellAnyCar offered) was ok for me as the clock was ticking and wanted to sell it without much more headache.

In summary, I am really surprised by the fact ppl always complain about how hard to find a car in good condition but when they find it, they start bargaining and give a very low price for a good car. and after some time they pay much more for Dealerships.
